Slow Cooker No Fry Re-fried Beans

We eat ALLOT of Mexican food in our home.

Anything from tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, enchiladas... the list goes on and on. So as you can imagine we go through pounds of beans.

Making your own re-fried beans is so simple and healthier... there is no FRY in these beans. They taste just as good as the canned version but are homemade... and cheaper!

You get three times as many re-fried beans out of 1 1lb bag of dried beans as you do 1 12 oz can of re-fried beans.

No Fry Re-fried Beans


1 lb dried pinto beans
3 cups water
4 cups chicken stock
1 onion quartered
5 slices uncooked bacon


Add all of your ingredients into your crock pot/slow cooker. Set on high for 4-6 hours.

Remove bacon and discard.

If there is allot of cooking liquid left pour off into a bowl.

Mash the beans/onions with a masher or run through your food processor. I like it chunky so I use a masher. If they are too dry. Add in some of your left over cooking liquids to  moisten it up a bit.
