Brown Butter Oatmeal Pecan and Chocolate Chip Bars

So...I did something naughty.

Something that thousands of women all of over the place have done this month...

I read Fifty Shades of Grey...

Yeah... And I'm on book 2!

I have to say... I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about. They are good books and yes... the um.... "love" scenes. Steamy! But it's not a fantastically written book at all.

But yet.... here I am reading book 2!

Want to know what else is positively sinful??

These Brown Butter Oatmeal Pecan Chocolate Chip Bars.

Yikes they are gooood!

To bad I didn't get to nibble on more than just a corner before boxing them up for a 5k at my husbands work this past weekend.

Making them again tomorrow.... just for me.

Yeah right.... like my tush really needs a whole pan!

Brown Butter Oatmeal Pecan Chocolate Chip Bars

1 cup  butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup pecan halves

In a sauce pan add you butter and melt over medium/low heat. Careful not to burn your butter... just brown it until it starts to get that toffee nutty smell.

Set aside to cool slightly.

In the bowl of your electric mixer cream your eggs and sugars together. Add in vanilla, Slowly pour in your browned butter.

Mix in your flour, oats, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.

Fold in your chocolate chips.

Press your dough on the bottom of a greased large baking dish I used a 9x13. Press pecan halves on the tops of the dough.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Let the bars cool for 30 minutes before cutting.

What new books have you read recently? Anyone out there read the Fifty Shades Trilogy?
