Fudge Pop Or Something.....Other?

This lovely little one who needs a hair cut... Is Chase

Fudge pops... I love them.

The boys and I do a little experiment everyday with what we can turn into pop cicles... We have done every type of yogurt... juice... we add in berries, watermelon... you name it we have tried it. Today I found a random box of sugar and fat free instant chocolate pudding in my cupboard. Sounds pretty gross to me. I don't think pudding should ever come out of a box... there is nothing and I mean nothing better than homemade pudding.... especially just off the stove. I love hot pudding with a dollop of fresh whipped cream.

Now I'm salivating.

I wonder how on earth you take the fat and sugar out of the instant chocolate pudding mix?

But anyways... I used it to concoct a fudge pop of sorts for the kiddos. This is the recipe that the boys helped out on...

Owen and Chase's Fudge Pops

1 box sugar free instant pudding
2 cups of 2% milk
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup chocolate chips

Whisk, pudding and milk together. Add in yogurt, whisk. Add chocolate chips and stir.
Pour into molds and freeze for at least 4 hours. And walla.... fudge pops

I have to say not bad at all! though I'm sure this would be way better with some homemade pudding. But we have a 2 and 4yr old cooking here so I think the instant is probably best!

Fudge Pop Aftermath

Do you ever have those moments as  mothers that your friends without kids look at you like your crazy... or like that its TMI? Well quick story which at the time was NOT funny but now that its 9:30 and my kids are tucked in and quite it makes me chuckle.... (notice I say chuckle, and not laugh)

After we ate the fudge pops, Chase was covered in chocolate. I'm amazed at what messes that child can create with the smallest things sometimes. Since he was such a mess I tossed him in the tub after I chased him with baby wipes for 5 minutes screaming DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!  I get him cleaned up and dried off and send him out of the bathroom. I go to the kitchen to clean up the table (covered in chocolate) and do some dishes. At this point Chase is still naked being that he is potty training and he hates to wear undies we let it slide on most days. He comes out to show me his fishing pole. Cause guess what??!!

He caught something.....

A terd was stuck to the tip of it.

He poops on the floor then proceeds to stick his fishing pole in it to pick it up.

Way to go Chase you picked up your own mess! Woohoo

Now I'm going to step outside and scream for a moment then come back in and clean this new mess up!

Now here's my question...

Do things like this happen to all mothers?? Or do I just have "special kids"?

By the time my husband got home tonight I was too exhausted to think about cooking. ( I had spent the afternoon with my mother cooking/freezing about a weeks worth of dinners to prepare for when I come home from the hospital) I didn't want to cook a damn thing the rest of the night!

So my wonderful husband made us some loaded... and I mean loaded baked potatoes. Enough butter, cheese, sour cream and bacon to give me a heart attach. And I in attempt to be a bit lighter made a cucumber dill salad. What a sad Saturday night dinner!!

What was for dinner in your houses tonight?

  1. I laughed out loud when I read this. So funny!

I did daycare for a summer and spent my time watching over 12 rowdy, ridiculous 2 year olds. Poop was always a fascinating discussion topic among the kids. One day, one of them (I still don't know who!) decided to take the mess out of their diaper and put it on the floor. All the children found this hilarious and proceeded to play "ring-around-the-poopie" until I got the mess cleaned up.

I feel your pain. We both deserve fudge pops for putting up with this. :)

  2. Haha it's true. The poop stories I have from just my 2 boys. I also worked in daycare (before my kids came along) with 1-2 yr olds... 12-15 kiddos in diapers makes for an interesting day that's for sure!

  3. I had to laugh about the poop story. That's too funny! Kids crack me up. And when you were talking about chasing them with the wet wipes and yelling to not touch anything...I do that on a daily basis. My 2 year old is a bit of a wild child and makes a mess out of every single thing she eats!

I'm loving these fudge pops...what a fun idea and what a cool mom you are for making these pops all the time! I need to do this with the girls!

  4. Just discovered your blog!!! I love it!! Can't wait to follow!
